Acupuncture
Acupuncture originated in China several thousand years ago.
It flourished there for centuries as the only system of medicine. It continues to be practiced there today, where it is now used successfully alongside Western Medicine. Millions of people worldwide benefit from Acupuncture.
Acupuncture involves the insertion of fine needles into certain points on the body which have been specifically chosen according to the diagnosis made by the practitioner. These acupoints are at very specific locations, and lie on channels of vital energy or “Qi”.
Needle insertion and/or stimulation of the acupoints influence the flow of energy and blood. It stimulates the nervous system to release chemicals such as cortisol and endorphins, which influence pain, inflammation and promote wellbeing in the body.
